The structural revolution of Villa Navarra
La Villa Navarra opens a new era in materials. Its roof in Ductal® concrete is a world first, the hybrid fruit of the boldness and expertise of Rudy Ricciotti, architect and laureate of the National Architecture Grand Prix 2006, Romain Ricciotti, structural engineer, and Mouloud Behloul, Lafarge concrete engineer. They meet up for a round table to talk about this building.

In Brief

Ductal® for Tokyo's Haneda Airport
Tokyo's Haneda Airport has reached full capacity on its three runways. The construction of a fourth runway will make it possible to open up new international connections for the capital. Emerging from the sea, an ultra modern pier on submerged piles will be entirely covered with Ductal® slabs fixed on steel girders.
Resistance to freezing, the degree of impermeability, the capacity to resist salt abrasion, as well as the lightness of the materials shaping the slabs were the criteria that led to the choice of an ultra-high peformance concrete.
The company Taiheiyo, licensed by Lafarge, undertook to supply the airport site with Ductal® for the next two years. A project to watch !
