Precaster

On the road to industrialization

Ductal® has clearly demonstrated its unique qualities; combining strength and aesthetics on signature construction sites, yet the future for this outstanding product also requires continued development of semi-industrial applications.

Accordingly, Lafarge works hand-in-hand with precasters, studying different projects which could lead to mass production of Ductal® elements.

One project under consideration (conducted jointly with precaster, Bonna Sabla), has made significant progress.
This project calls for very thin, extremely strong technical flooring slabs made with Ductal®. The complete system for this new generation technical flooring assembly, called Cimburo, is designed for large surface areas in new construction and renovation sectors: office buildings, public buildings (auditoriums, theaters, cultural centers, hospitals, schools, train stations, etc.).

The Ductal® solution provides all the benefits of the material’s inherent qualities and is advantageous for high buildings, as this floor system saves one story every thirty stories. The low weight of the Ductal® floor is extremely valuable for the rehabilitation sector, reducing loads on the building shell, while its high compressive and flexural strengths provide total safety guarantees.

The Ductal® solution can take water and most cleaning products; making maintenance much easier than other conventional materials. In addition, the Ductal® slabs provide good thermal inertia, excellent acoustics, and are ranked “MO”, with respect to fire resistance.
